Snow-capped mountain in the sunlight

I warmly welcome clients seeking psychological evaluations to strengthen their immigration cases. These evaluations can be helpful in the following types of cases:

  • U-Visa

  • T-Visa

  • VAWA (Violence Against Women Act)

  • Asylum

  • Extreme Hardship

The process begins when you and/or your immigration attorney contact me to request an evaluation. Once we discuss logistics and complete paperwork, we will meet in-person or virtually to discuss your experiences and their impact on you. My aim is to make these meetings as supportive and trauma-informed as possible. After we meet, I will complete a report based on what we discussed, which I will then provide to your attorney.

Immigration Evaluations

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Immigration evaluations can support your case by providing vital context regarding your immigration and trauma history and its impact on your mental health. Evaluations can also convey the predicted impact of removal on the client and/or their loved ones. Essentially, evaluations help translate the mental health aspects of your journey to the legal system.

  • Each evaluation can vary widely. You can expect that we will meet at least once for about 1.5 hours, though additional meetings are extremely common. During our meetings, we will discuss your immigration history, trauma history, physical and mental health history, and work history. If needed, we will take breaks along the way and schedule additional meetings as needed.

Once I’ve gathered all of the needed information, I will write a report which will then be sent to your lawyer.

  • Evaluations can take up to 4 weeks to complete, though this timeline can vary depending on scheduling needs, the complexity of the case, and other factors.

  • Evaluations can and often do include a specific mental health diagnosis based on the history and symptoms reported during the interview. However, I am unable to guarantee a specific desired diagnosis before an evaluation is conducted.

  • To ensure accurate and trauma-informed evaluation, my practice at this time is to work only with clients who are actively working with an immigration attorney. This ensures that clients are provided the correct type of evaluation for their specific circumstances. If you are pursuing your case pro se, I am happy to send you recommendations of other providers who may be better-equipped to support you in completing an evaluation.

  • My rate for evaluations ranges from $600-$900. Additional fees may apply if medical interpretation is needed for languages other than English or Spanish, as well as if court testimony is required. Unfortunately, I am unable to accept insurance for immigration evaluations.
